This is an updated, condensed 2011 version of MORTO IN ITALIA: 60 pages, 8 x10 inch (25 x 20 cm) / The process of re-photographing those photographs that can be found on Italian graveyards evokes sensations of memory and loss; intensified through the signs of disparition and decay inscribed in the images by the passage of time can be seen as purely nostalgic journey through Italian cemeteries; additional layers are added by combining four different Italian regions: an Epoche gone by (Venice)/ the Pompejianic (Naples) / the Archaic (Sardinia) and finally the void (Le Catacombe dei Capuzzini in Sicily).

With the focus on the scratched surfaces, it is about the thin membrane that separates us from the other side that one almost means to touch. While it is just the body's empty shell that has been left behind (Palermo), the portraits seem to belong to spirits that have decided to move on.
