Essaouira (Arabic: الصويرة, eṣ-ṣauīrah; formerly known as Mogador, its older name) is an ancient, over 2000 years old, isolated city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco.
Essaouira possesses beautifully preserved ramparts and naval fortifications, one of the finest remaining fortified ports in the world, and numerous monuments of historical interest left by figures ranging from medieval explorers right up to Orson Welles and Jimmy Hendrix.
The word Essaouira means 'image' or 'well designed'.
The book contains 37 colour photographs telling the story of everyday life in Essaouira: merchants, fishermen, passers-by, street life, city & sea scapes...
