Rob Bates is a professional freelance illustrator. His work has made appearances and been discussed in a variety of media outlets, such as the Charlotte Observer, Creative Loafing, National Review, Leatherneck Magazine, Illustrator Magazine, Charlotte Talks, and American Public Media.

His list of clients include: Sports Illustrated, New York Observer, Daniel Defense, Inc. and LivelyGroup.tv.

He is the proud recipient of the Art Instruction Schools 2012 Outstanding Graduate of the Year Award, the 2013 Col. John W. Thomason Combat Art Award, and the 2014 Area Award in Illustration for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Lastly, his work resides in the permanent collection of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, American Embassy in Beijing, China, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
