Adventurers inspired me to write poems over the last two years. Nargeolet who went down for his last dive only to implode, Edmund Hillary, Rheinhold Meisner, Joe Simpson, Alex Honnold, Ibn Battuta, Junko tabei, Dante, Odysseus among others. These poems are not an exhaustive list of the world's inspiration. No, they are only a few but what I have always loved about poetry is the way a universal voice speaks through the simplicity of actions in the very fact that a human being is doing something they mean to do, and the unexpected sometime fatal results of those endeavors does not take away from the way soul shines, demands even, feeling from us. There are true giants, true planets of human beings that we live with on this earth. Some are the inspiring and wonderful people we learn from and work with. Some we hear about by reading or listening to stories. Keep your eyes lifting and your heart believing and there will always be poetry!
