Explorations in Fiber Art is a community of artists in northern Illinois / southern Wisconsin who create a body of work each year prompted by a selected theme. Each artist develops a project evolving from that person's individual perspective. Often the projects are prompted by significant personal memories or by qualities inherent in and suggested by the fiber materials themselves. Artistic growth and originality are key objectives of our group. We value each project as an opportunity to express new perceptions and explore new fiber art techniques. Explorations in Fiber Art grew out of the former Women's Journeys in Fiber. We exhibit our work at several venues, including the Fine Art of Fiber, one of the oldest and most prestigious needle art shows in the Midwest.
