These photos are part of an ongoing series, Hawaii Seas. To me oceans and seascapes represent freedom, a sense of expansiveness, an invitation to worlds beyond and a place for the imagination.



In Hawaii Seas I seek out culturally and historically significant places on the Hawaiian Islands to create these modern interpretations of a timeless genre.



While shooting these seascapes I work like a plein air painter, creating with a stroke of the camera. An element of chance plays in each of these photographs with each movement capturing a moment.



As with my other fine art photography, I take scores of photos and then select the image where elements of chance are singularly unique.



What you see here is the actual capture that is photographed in the camera. Each image has all the subtleness of tone and texture, of place and of time.



The fine art color prints from Hawaii Seas are printed on 100% cotton paper. Using state of the art archival printing the prints are offered in various sizes, the editions are 10.
