Using a combination of fictional story telling and factual commentary, the author hopes that this book will have something for the genealogist as well as the cousin who just wants to learn a bit about who they are. The first book in what will be a series of books begins in Scotland and ends in South Carolina with the election of President Abraham Lincoln.

Sometime in 1783, Angus MacLeod and his young and pregnant bride, Nancy McCutchen, make the decision to leave Scotland with their son, Alexander, and sail to the newly formed United States of America. Living first in Richmond County North Carolina and then in Sumter County, South Carolina, the couple and their children built a new life. Their descendants are now estimated to be around 8,000.
