Light, water, trees and leaves combine to produce scenes of dazzling beauty in an ordinary urban creek. The twenty images in this book take various forms: as reflections of skies and clouds, trees, and leaves, or as light itself beautifully playing across the waves, illuminating leaves, flowers and grasses. They are often three-dimensional, showing reflections of the sky interacting with movement of water, coupled with elements floating in the waves or on the streambed. Sligo Creek runs through nine miles of Maryland near Washington, DC, but it could be any creek anywhere. The photographer, who has been published and has exhibited internationally, lives on the creek, and has been intensively photographing reflections on the creek’s waters since 2005.
