Informazioni

Andrew Doughty started carving around 27 years ago, at the age of 18. Initially based in Whangarei as a resident artist at the Northland Craft Trust, known as ‘the Quarry’, he is now based in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Each carving has a meaning. Andrew has received special permission and blessings from several Kaumatua to carve and adapt certain special Māori symbols and combine this with Celtic and contemporary influences.

Andrew is a practising Buddhist and it is his wish to create carvings that communicate great meaning and provide a sense of hope. The work, symbolism, and energy imbued in each carving is authentic and comes from his heart.

Each creation has been blessed as it is traditional in New Zealand for carvings to be blessed before wearing it, or giving it away. It is Andrew's wish to create esoterically charged treasures that promote a peaceful mind and nurture wisdom and a spiritual life. They are handcrafted with love and no two carvings are the same.
