Cate Whittemore grew up in Minnesota, Washington DC, Rome, Italy, and New York City.
Her education included two years of full-time study @The Studio and Forum of Stage Design in NYC, where she qualified as a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 in 1981, She has collaboratively realized scenery for feature films, tv series, and multiple Broadway hits, including “The Book of Mormon”. She holds an MFA from the U of MN, has designed and renovated houses, created cover art for books, been a courtroom sketch artist, and taught drawing at the Universities of MN and WI. In 2011 she was honored to design a poster for the World Peace Kalachakra of the Dalai Lama in Washington DC.

Her paintings explore naturalistic landscape imagery, and how these locations and encounters suggest realms of metaphysical meaning. Her work is in private the corporate collections including SONY, The Anderson Center, Neiman Marcus, & The Mayo Clinic in Red Wing, MN.
