Informazioni sul libro
This collection portrays flowers. For me, and I hope for you the reader/viewer, the images evoke appreciation of delicacy, strength, the play of light, balance, counterpoint, and “tensegrity,” an architectural term describing structural integrity based on a balance of tension and compression. I think of tensegrity when observing Queen Anne’s Lace still standing tall on its thin stem that I know was subjected to wind, ice, and snow or admiring Thalictrum aquilegifolium supporting flowers and later, seeds, on a four foot tall stem barely thicker than thread.

Informazioni sull'autore
Cheryl Gowie
Albany, NY
Cheryl J. Gowie has been a close observer of the natural world since childhood. A deep love of wildlife, landscape, and wildflowers was inspired by family camping trips in the Adirondacks and augmented by field botany courses in North Carolina as well as international travel with a focus on botany in Kazakhstan and Siberia. Cheryl's camera has always been the first item on her travel packing list. Images of unique moments, rare plants, curious juxtapositions, and architectural details are her favorite souvenirs, making the extra bulk and weight of additional lenses worth bearing. Cheryl is a professor at Siena College and resides near Albany, NY.
