Inspired by the NY Times Summer of ‘78 photo project, in summer 2022, I often found myself documenting life at McIntosh Lake in Longmont Colorado where the sidewalk that wraps around the lake feels like the town’s promenade. A place where people gather to play in many different ways. I used a Rolleiflex 3.5F camera loaded with Ilford HP5+ black and white film on weekend days to see who I’d find. This is a collection of the folks I documented enjoying some playtime by the lake—an outdoor “theater” featuring the Longmont Lake Players. The project began July 4th weekend and concluded Labor Day 2022.
