On 25 February 2023, I was part of the crowd watching the public Sydney Lesbian and Gay Mardi Gras and World Pride Parade in Moore Park, Sydney, Australia. The parade commenced at around 6 pm and ended around 11 pm. This work is a portrait of the parade participants and attempts to capture the essence of being part of the crowd experiencing the parade.

The images shown in this work are a snapshot of sexual and gender-diverse humanity in the parade that flowed past my camera position. They also show how physically close I was to the street marchers and the crowd around me. Due to media limitations, major components are missing from this work, such as the marchers’ rhythmic movements, the music from the floats and the noise of the crowd.
