Informazioni sul libro
Every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday the local population around Pisco and tourists from Cusco, Peru descend on the small square in the center of town to haggle and buy local products--ranging from grains, meats, fish, produce, and fruit--to every imaginable sort of Peruvian handicraft and clothing. Pisco is set in the southern end of the Urubamba River valley, upriver roughly 100 miles from Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. It is surrounding by steep mountain ridges, lined with Inca ruins and stepped terraces that have been farmed for a thousand years. I spent half a day at the market, trying to be unobtrusive and respectful, but still working to take the best photographs I could. This book seeks to capture the colors, the feel, and the essence of Pisac one Sunday morning.
