Paul Takeuchi, upon scouring his image library for images for his website, discovered many that included the color yellow. Incorporated like a highlighter, or a caution sign, or merely an accent which screams out of tonal darkness, the yellow in these pictures is anything but the cowardly or sallow skinned Asian denigrations of American cultural history. Here it is an affirmation of the sun and nature, the fading world of manufactured things, and the occasional human cry for attention.

Paul Takeuchi
Brooklyn, NY USA

PAUL TAKEUCHI was born in Washington, D.C. and now lives in Brooklyn, NY. He has received numerous awards and grants, including from The Robert M. MacNamara Foundation, The Atlantic Center for the Arts, the Ucross Foundation, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. In addition to exhibiting his art in over 20 one-man and group shows, his work has appeared in dozens of publications, including The Sciences, Photo Metro, Kyoto Journal, and The New York Times. In 2007, he received an International Lucie Award for his abstract nature photography (Visual Haiku series) and in 2008, images from his Tokyo Crossing series (2002-6), which focuses on the geometric choreography of that city’s pedestrians, appeared in Redivider.
