In November, large shoals of herring migrate into northern Norway’s fjords, attracting sizable pods of killer, humpback, and fin whales in their wake. Besides the opportunity for whale watching, the fjords of Troms and Finnmark boast some of Norway’s most majestic landscapes. At this time of year, the sun barely grazes the horizon, painting the scenery with dramatic hues and deep shadows during the limited hours of daylight.
 
A week aboard a sailing yacht is without doubt the best way to experience this mesmerizing Arctic environment. I have documented two winter itineraries with s/v Ursa Minor, sharing remarkable experiences in the most stunning conditions. I’m proud to showcase them through this book.
