Although overused, Iceland’s nickname, “The Country of Fire & Ice” is certainly spot-on; this island in the North Atlantic Ocean is shaped by ten thousands of years of volcanic activity and glacial retreat. The results of these processes are simply spectacular; a true photographer’s paradise.



This book provides a visual overview of Iceland’s many landscapes and features by means of a selection of photographs by Dutch photographer Martijn Smeets. Although this was intended to be a photography book, some background information is presented alongside the photographs for those who want to learn a little bit more about this fascinating country.
