A major and essential reference book for airplane toy collectors, especially vintage toy collectors and Dinky Toy collectors. Dedicated to Sue Richardson.
This book is the first to cover all the Dinky Toys aircraft produced in Great Britain and France starting in 1934, continuing during the prewar period, reissued during the early postwar period until 1948, the 1950s releases, and finally through launch of the ‘Big Planes’ range in the 1960s until the demise of the firm in 1979.
Each Dinky Toys aircraft is described in a monograph consolidating all the details of the aircraft toy in one section with photographs of the toy, a full description, reference number, scale, production dates, casting details, some of the variations produced, other named toys using the same principal casting, along with a brief history of the actual aircraft selected by the Dinky designers.
Required reading for toy airplane collectors
The author, along with John Beugels and Sir George Cox provided photographs and details of the toys in their extensive collections. Jacques du Jardin has also asssited.
The book covers every airplane toy manufactured with over 530 photographs and illustrations.

'GR' has amassed one of the largest collections of toy aircraft in the world. During his wartime military service in aerial combat in Vietnam, Captain Webster received double Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Air Medal for Valor, 30 Air Medals, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and 2 awards of the Cross of Gallantry commanding the 'Mustang' Gunship Platoon of the 68th Assault Helicopter Company 'Top Tigers'. A graduate from the University of Chicago with a Masters Degree in Business Administration, he retired as Chief Executive Officer of Givaudan Fragrances Inc. following a 30 year career in international business at age 54. ‘GR’ founded The Plane News and later The Miniature Aircraft Quarterly, and more recently created the airplane toy collectors website http://www.miniatureaircraftcollectors.com. He is an accomplished author, portrait painter, aerobatic pilot, seaplane pilot, and commercial helicopter pilot and lives mainly in France with his wife and three children.
