Informazioni sul libro
Welcome to Dreamland contains a selection of images taken during a solitary journey to Mongolia. The book is presented through the eyes of an outsider, one that does not speak the language, is not part of the culture and who’s only objective is to record the moment she was stopped in her tracks by a land of extremes and rapid change.
Working methodically in self-imposed isolation, she seeks to express the transcendental beauty of the urban landscape, taking feelings of alienation and otherness and reflecting them through her images onto the viewer. A seemingly shallow relationship of rigid boundaries and distance; she uses the camera as a tool with which to connect to her surroundings, not to impose meaning but only to observe. There is no need for an understanding of political, cultural or historical context; the name, function or reason for its existence is not relevant to the journey.
Great care is taken to re-create the experience in the hope that it will be considered in the same way as it was taken.
