Informazioni sul libro
Fifth Avenue is best known for its stores, museums, churches and other iconic buildings, parades, and so much more. It also used to be one of the streets of choice for street photographers. Many of the more prominent street photographers shot on Fifth Avenue, particularly in the midtown segment of it.
The photographs in this book were taken on the Avenue itself or no more then a half a block east or west of Fifth Avenue. The relatively small area between 42nd Street and 60th Street in midtown Manhattan were the source for almost all of the photographs. Fifth Avenue extends from Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village to 142nd Street in Harlem. Thus, this project focused on a small but dense part of Fifth Avenue. People are the subject matter. Some are aware of the camera, but most are in their own personal bubble. The iconic urban landscape is not of major interest here.
