Graham Ewen spent 3 years researching the old estate records for the Mar Estate which are held in the Special Collections Department of Aberdeen University Library. The result was the publication of a series of 10 Articles in the Cairngorm Club Journal which form the content of this book.
The articles cover the history of the ownership of the greater Mar Estate (formerly Dalmore, Allanaquoich, Inverey and Corriemulzie Estates), the settlements in Glen Dee, Glen Lui, Glen Quoich and Glen Ey, the land use, and the relationship between the land owners and their tenants.
The history of the village of Inverey, the history of the Cartography of the Cairngorm Mountains, and the history of the Cairngorm Club's ownership of climbing huts at Muir Cottage, Inverey and Derry Lodge are also explored.
