A SISTA LIKE ME
I've been bamboozled, unjustified,
Lied to straight in the eye,
I'm a SISTA, they'll never crush my pride,
I'm standing tall and strong, with nothing to hide,
I keep my respect and dignity until the day I die.
You can't pull me down,
I'm strong enough to carry all tons,
GOD made all Black Women,
Because, we are the ones.
To put our foot down when life's getting out of hand,
Divided we fall and United we stand,
We’re here to lift up the spirit of our brother man,
We made our sacrifices when our lives began,
We stand behind our race, because we are the Black Woman.
When our feet are hurting, we must press on,
We must provide for our families and tend to our homes,
We pronounced our strength we our children was born,
We’re finished picking our cotton and peeling our corn,
We stand equal to all there will be no more sewing.
We are walking through malls with are hair and nails done,
Broke as a joke you would have never known.
We are here to set goals that we will achieve,
You can't bring down this woman, I mean A SISTA LIKE ME.
My man is in the Bahamas he is not in jail,
We keep our business private and hid real well,
My life is not your gossip, I do not tell.
So the next time a person ask who may you be,
You tell them you A SISTA, A SISTA LIKE ME.
I've been bamboozled, unjustified,
Lied to straight in the eye,
I'm a SISTA, they'll never crush my pride,
I'm standing tall and strong, with nothing to hide,
I keep my respect and dignity until the day I die.
