Free your mind and let energy flow through your veins. Draw life from the audience. Interact with them, with your instruments, and with your body. Lose yourself. Block out stress, fear, and limitation. This is about you. Your stage is endless. You hold the power. Be passionate. Let everything go. Remember what led you here.

Throughout all my own performances, I would recite similar words for myself. I was never nervous once I was on stage, it was always the moments right before I stepped into the lights. I would feel anxious, as if my stomach was dragging on the ground trying to grab anything it could; begging me not to go. Once I was on stage, I felt free and would lose myself in the art. In these photographs I hope to evoke these emotions within my viewers.

For this project I show different types of performances to reveal the immense range performance art holds. I would like to recognize the 7textures ensemble, Sherman Hesse, and Michael Scalzi for allowing me to experience and document their incredible performances. I'm so thankful to have met these unique and passionate people and to have been completely enthralled by their work.
