Informazioni sul libro
As a young boy I read Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, a tale about a fearless mongoose and two cobras. It was my first encounter with anything Indian. The second was with delicious onion bhajis and juicy lady's fingers at lunch with my father in a dimly lit restaurant in Baker Street, London. Both events are etched vividly into my mind.
Many years later armed with two exotic memories I travelled to India and was instantly mesmerised by the kaleidoscopic frenzy of life, colour and vibrancy that was waiting just outside the airport doors. Since that wonderful moment of encountering real India for the first time I have kept going back, and I find it impossible to travel in this vast country of 1.3 billion people without being affected spiritually. During each visit my curiosity and fascination take me further and deeper, to places less obvious and ultimately more rewarding.
Thousands of Gods, temples, shrines, mosques, synagogues, cathedrals and churches, feasts, offerings
and festivals every day, a land of devotion, smoky mystery, humble simplicity and mind-boggling complexity.
India is a country where I have experienced a warm welcome and true friendship.
These photographs are a way of sharing my own reality of this extraordinary country.
