We volunteered with Baasgalgo Association in February of 2015. We spent a week in the Numancia de la Sagra Perrera (Dog Pound) with the Baas volunteers and the Galgos. We witnessed the Galgos being dropped off by their hunters, skin and bones, sores all over their bodies and so frightened. We saw how the volunteers worked with the dogs and started to build a bond with them. The change in the dogs after a couple of days was very noticeable. You could see the change in their eyes and how the new Galgos would follow the volunteers as they gained trust in humans again. On our last day at the Perrera, I knew I had to honor the great work the volunteers at Baasgalgo Association and show them the result of their dedication and hard work.
