The Sommer-Cole Homestead was one of the earliest settlements in Custer County, Nebraska. The original sod house was built before the village or railroad existed.
The home is still standing, in fact I spent many summers there as a child. The Sommer-Cole family has lived in the homestead for over 90 years.
