Informazioni sul libro
La Jolla artist, Nasser Pirasteh, worked for six months in his yard to build the beautiful sculpture he titled In/Out.
When he was done he received a notice from the San Diego Zoning Office that In/Out was in violation of the zoning laws. They did not consider In/Out a work of art. They labeled it an uninhabitable structure that was too close to the property line.
Two hearings were held to allow Nasser to present his case that In/Out was a sculpture and did not violate the zoning laws. After six months the hearing officer ruled that In/Out must be moved or destroyed. And Nasser was fined $10,000 plus up to $250,000 if In/Out remained in place.
During this time Nasser invited people to write their opinions about In/Out vs The City on his wall. Many children and adults came to see In/Out and wrote on the wall. This book is a collection of these writings on the wall in defense of In/Out.
In/Out now stands in a safe place and will continue to evolve with the hands and eyes of Nasser Pirasteh.
