Returning to Berkshire after thirty years away in London and New York, working as an advertising and editorial photographer, I found time to reflect on my childhood shire's rivers.
Stumbling across early photo studies awoke undercurrents of memory. Idyllic childhood walks, fishing expeditions. Urging me to discover what had changed. And what remained. Where are we now? How were these ancient waters being treated?
These tributaries weave across the shire, defining its boundaries and creating fertile earth for wildlife and livestock. Try to capture Berkshire, and it becomes clear that the county is ruled by this water gathering and waiting to move on to London.
