Pumpkin Top is the second in a series of six-and-a-half books that tell one continuous story about Percy Fetter's attempt to make a movie about his "real dad" (T. Henry Tinsmith) – a man that Percy had never met... and a man that had never been told about Percy's existence. Percy searches for and finds this "real dad" of his, but is reluctant to introduce himself, until he has researched and written a screenplay that he can be proud of. However the more that Percy learns about Tinsmith and the extraordinary circumstances of his life, the more puzzled he becomes about the shape that his movie ought to take. (NOTE:The first book in this series is entitled, 'The Five Fleas Hotel.')
