Informazioni sul libro
Following the first post-war season at the Claremont Speedway (1946-47) a controlling interest in Claremont Speedway Limited was purchased by local businessman Mr. J. W. Davies. The race program in those days consisted of Solos, Sidecars and Speedcars. His time running the track was marred by power restrictions and poor weather. The 1949-50 season saw five of the first eight meetings rained out. After a break of two months Claremont resumed under new management on February 10, 1950. The syndicate consisted of George Milne (managing director), Jim Wyatt (general manger), Ossie Michelsen (promoter) with drivers Harry "Tiger" Lewis and Bill Stitt on the board. Crowds improved with better newspaper coverage and visiting competitors brought over to the west. This publication covers the period from 1947-48 until the beginning of the Stock Car Era in 1954. Read the actual newspaper reports of the time - includes previously unpublished photos in 114 pages.

Coolbellup Western Australia
I first attended the Claremont Speedway during the stock car days in the 1950s. In 1966 I answered an advertisement in a speedway newspaper to report on racing here in Western Australia. I have been doing that ever since. I have a very keen interest in the early days of speedway racing - and have spent many hours delving through the old newspapers of the day to try and bring this long forgotten speedway history to the general public.
