A series of ten books featuring images of the Tsukiji Fish market in Tokyo (2008-18). This book: The intermediate wholesale stalls, makeshift structures of typography covered plywood.
In these books Jake Tilson shares his personal photographic resource - years spent looking at cities. Many images are the raw material for specific projects but others are observational glimpses into what he finds fascinating in our urban environments. Each book is themed, organised and sub-divided to provide a visual train of thought.

Jake Tilson is an artist, graphic designer and author. His work is rooted in everyday culture with a pervading sense of place and is held in public collections including the Tate Gallery, Centre Pompidou and Museum of Modern Art. Tilson founded the influential arts magazine, Atlas (1984), and was an early web pioneer with his award-winning website TheCooker (1994), featured in World Art Series - New Media in Late 20th Century Art, Thames & Hudson. His cookbook, A Tale of 12 Kitchens, 2006, won the Gourmand World Cookbook Award and was shortlisted for both the Andre Simon Food & Drink Award and the Glenfiddich Food & Drink Award. A retrospective of his work, Investigations in Cities 1977-1997, was held at the Museo International de Electrografía in 1997. In 2009 Tilson produced shoe designs for Paul Smith and exhibited with the Japanese artist Kyoichi Tsuzuki at The Wapping Project in, A Net of Eels, commissioned by Film and Video Umbrella.
