Gathered in this zine is the writing and artwork created by participants of DSTL Arts’ Conchas y Café creative writing classes for adults. Through poetry and short fiction, drawings and photo composition, these workshops empower participants as the artists they are, helping them develop new skills in storytelling.

The theme for Conchas y Café Zine: Volume 4; Issue 4, is Emotions. Through poetry that reflects on emotions and how we cope with them, we attempt to use literary devices to recreate the frustrations, heartache, pride, and love we all feel. Through poetry, corridos, and art, we reflect on what makes us all human, what gives us the capacity for compassion.
