Informazioni sul libro
Alberto Escobar, born in the city of Ilobasco, El Savaddor in 1990. He studied Architecture and also has a Degree In Fine Arts, specializing in painting from the Universidad de El Salvador. He has participated in more than twenty Group Exhibitions at the National level including two solo exhibitions. His work is part of private collections in Australia, Canada, Guatemala and the United States and is represented in the Galerie Mooiman-Male Art (Amsterdam), Galeria El Carmen (Antigua Guatemala) and Galeria El Attico (Guatemala).
Alberto's main forms of expression in art are painting and drawing. These are the resources on which he does his recurrent theme, the Male Nude. This is taken as a contemporary challenge to what is considered moral or immoral in Salvadorian society, as well as other countries around the world.
“As an artist I feel the need to capture in each work a pictorial research based on personal experiences. This research takes place in sexual affinities and tastes, which is considered problematic as it is a taboo in the Salvadorian society: Homosexuality, love, sex and the passion between people gay or straight people no matter their condition or affinity. This experience, most of the time, receives social discrimination, a characteristic of Machoism, an inherited tradition in Salvadorian context, as many other countries still also experience around the world…”
