Informazioni sul libro
Dawn Flores is Creative Director for The Forest Project, which organized artists in documenting 60-acres of urban forest before it was clear-cut for development. The forest is preserved through photography, videography, fabric design, quiltmaking, woodturning, eco printing, printmaking and poetry. In addition, volunteers rescued 2,000 plants, collected millions of seeds and salvaged parts of an 1865 farmhouse, which saved valuable resources from ending up in landfill.
This publication is the result of hundreds of artists working together for the common goal of commemorating an urban forest lost to development. It contains essays by Jack Johnson and Katherine Benner, along with the introduction and a sample of pictures from each of the eight Forest Project books, which includes—Destructive Beauty, Seasons in the Bone, Common Treasure, What the Forest Gave Me, Quiltmaking, Woodturnings, Bare Earth and Final Cut.
