This book embodies a year of exploration of some of the most beautiful places I could find in North Carolina, and of the mediations these explorations inspired on the layered and intricate surfaces of the natural world. The title of the book and the quote it contains at the end are from A Course in Miracles, which I was studying closely during that time.
