What is life like on the other side of this globe we call our world? This question had never occurred to us as parents until our daughter answered a call from the Lord to be a missionary in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. After all, we were still able to keep in touch with her on a weekly basis via e-mail, voice and even video Internet capabilities. But the actual idea of crossing twelve international time zones by flying from Minneapolis to London, London to Istanbul, and Istanbul to Bishkek; that would take some serious thinking. The average temperatures and seasons there were almost identical to those of Minnesota (just a bit warmer in the summer). But what differences would we face in the way of food, lodging, travel, terrain and the people? If the Lord had called Tracy to live and serve Him there on a full-time basis; the least we could do was to try and encourage and support her with a two week visit, right?
